The 1980 Copper Canyon 400 was known for a nine car crash caused by Chick Hicks on the final lap that involved Norman Green, Ronald Oaks, Andrew Axler, Harold Axel, Mike Seasons, Sammy Smelter, James Cleanair, Jonathan Melter and Eugene Carbureski. Norman Green flipped over three times and landed on his wheels.
Chick wins with The King second and Cole Speedland third. Tom Landis and Ernie Gearson behind them in 4th and 5th.

Andrew, Harold, Mike, Sammy, James, Johnathan and Eugene then spin out with Sammy going into the wall while James flips over once and lands on his wheels. Chick, The King, Cole, Tom, Ernie, Alloy, Don among others dodge the wreck finishing all 200 laps.
